Anarchivist Practices

Discussion with Annelize Kotze (curator of social history), Lucy Campbell (social scientist and cultural heritage activist), Glen Arendse (artist), and other guests, in English. Moderator: Dr. Memory Biwa

This discussion will focus on resistant archival practices in the context of current restitution debates. The term “anarchivist” is a portmanteau of “anarchy” and “archivist” that circulates in English-language discourse on decolonial work with collections and archives to stimulate a more progressive engagement with “the archive” and archival practice.

The project is part of the “Counter-Monuments” series by Stadtkuratorin Hamburg and takes place in cooperation with the International Summer Festival Kampnagel, Baakenhafen-AG, and the Hamburg Architecture Summer. With support from the Probebühne im Gängeviertel, Quaterpipe, and Betahaus-Hafencity. Funded by the Hamburg Elbkulturfonds and the Fonds Darstellende Künste.

Language: German
Duration: ca. 2 hour(s)
Fee: free of charge
Museumseintritt: Museum admission is not included in the price. Please purchase a museum ticket.
