Usage and Fees Regulations for the Library of the Museum am Rothenbaum
The museum’s research library is open to the public, but the borrowing of media is restricted.
Users are obliged to comply with the provisions of these library regulations and the instructions of the library staff. They are liable for damages and disadvantages resulting from non-compliance with these obligations.
Borrowing media is free of charge to the staff of the museum, to the teaching staff of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Hamburg University and to students of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology and Latin American Studies, as well as to the members of Freunde des Museums am Rothenbaum MARKK e.V.
Users who are officially registered residents of Hamburg and who are not less than 18 years of age can borrow media from the library as “city readers” for a fee.
Registration is for a limited period of time, the user fee must be paid in advance.
Each borrowing person requires a user card. A valid identity card (or passport and valid certificate of registration – “Meldebestätigung“) must be presented to the library staff for this card to be issued. In the event that a discount is claimed in accordance with the fee schedule, the status must be proved with suitable documents.
The loan period for library items is 14 days. The loan period can be extended once (also by telephone) if the item is not recalled otherwise.
For use outside the library, holders of a user card may borrow a maximum of 5 items.
Excluded from borrowing are all items published before 1950, all journals, as well as library items with a relevant note. Also, items from the reference library, bibliographies, atlases and all dictionaries cannot be borrowed.
