Colonial Heritage

Since 2017, the MARKK has been in an active process of examining its own colonial past and has initiated a comprehensive process of repositioning. Close cooperation and a trustful exchange with the collections’ societies of origin are of great importance. In addition to possible restitutions, the MARKK is open to discuss alternative solutions such as the exchange of digitized material, the circulation of objects and longer-term cooperation.
