Pussy, Power, Perspectives – A Queer Feminist View on Gender Stereotypes and Cat Clichés

In a heteronormative world, men are expected to be as strong as lions, while women are certainly not supposed to become “crazy cat ladies”—although being a purring pussycat is often considered desirable. Taking the CATS! exhibition as its starting point, the Landesfrauenrat Hamburg, Queere Vernetzung and MARKK invite audiences to explore, in an engaging and thought-provoking discussion, how gender stereotypes are created, how they shape our perceptions, and how they can be challenged.
