Archive Listening Session mit SLIC Unit

SLIC Unit übernimmt 2023 an verschiedenen Terminen das MARKK Vinyl Archiv und stellt uns seine Funde anhand intimer Listening-Sessions im Zwischenraum vor. Das DJ Netzwerk aus Berlin und Hamburg wurde 2020 virtuell von Jaxx TMS, SENU, Nissa, yung_womb und slimgirl fat gegründet. Sie teilen nicht nur ihre Begeisterung für Musik, sondern ebenso ihre Sehnsucht nach Einigkeit, kollektiver Freude und radikaler Solidarität in der Musikindustrie.

Die dritte Veranstaltung dieser besonderen Reihe findet am 28.09. statt und wird von Jaxx TMS gehosted und lädt Astan KA ein.

Astan KA

ist eine künstlerische Performerin, Sängerin-Rapperin, Schauspielerin, Tänzerin und Kuratorin aus Berlin. Als Französin und Malierin sieht sie sich selbst als Kind der Versöhnung. Ihre Musik ist meist experimentell, da sie verschiedene Genres wie Jazz, Rap, Trip-Hop oder ethno/afro-elektronische Klänge erforscht. Sie entwickelt ein musikalisches Universum, das sie „Gangsta Jazz“ nennt. Astan ist die Leadsängerin der Band Asphalt Djelis und Mitglied des Berliner Musikkollektivs Sonic Interventions. Sie ist Mitbegründerin von Cult’Sup‘, einer Kulturveranstaltung, die sich auf künstlerische Inhalte des Afro-Undergrounds und das Wissen der Vorfahren konzentriert. Astan macht auch das Styling für KASAPIO.

Jaxx TMS

ist eine in Berlin lebende Musikkuratorin, DJ, Radiomoderatorin und Mitglied des kreativen Kollektivs SLIC Unit. Sie ist bekannt für ihr breites musikalisches Spektrum und ihre Leidenschaft für die Verbindung von Kultur- und Communityarbeit. Durch ihren starken karibischen, britischen und spanischen Hintergrund kam Jaxx schon früh mit Genres wie Lovers Rock, Jazz, Soul und Hip Hop in Berührung. Um den Sound, der sie geprägt hat, zu ehren, startete sie ihre eigene Mix-Serie „EXPRESSIONS“, die jetzt ihre Radioshow auf Refuge Worldwide ist und ab August 2023 zu einem Event wird. Sehr wichtig für Jaxx TMS ist ihre Liebe zur Dance Music, die Einflüsse aus der Energie ihrer Wurzeln, der 90er House Music, sowie zeitgenössische House- und elektronische Uplifting-Genres mit Fokus auf Großbritannien und die USA.

SLIC Unit takes over the MARKK Vinyl Archive on various dates in 2023 and presents their finds with intimate listening sessions in the Zwischenraum. The DJ network from Berlin and Hamburg was virtually founded in 2020 by Jaxx TMS, SENU, Nissa, yung_womb and slimgirl fat. They share not only their enthusiasm for music, but equally their longing for unity, collective joy and radical solidarity in the music industry.

The third event in this special series will take place on Sept. 28 and will be hosted by Jaxx TMS and will be joined by Astan KA.

Astan KA

is an artistic performer, singer-rapper, actress, mover and event curator based in Berlin. French-Malian, she considered herself as a child of reconciliation. Her music is mostly experimental as she explores various genres such as jazz, rap, trip-hop or ethno/afro electronic sounds. She develops a musical universe that she names „gangsta jazz“. Astan is the lead singer of the band Asphalt Djelis and a member of the Berlin based music collective Sonic Interventions. She is the co-founder of Cult’Sup‘, a cultural event focusing on afro-underground artistic content and ancestral knowledge. Astan is also doing styling for the fashion cultural concept KASAPIO.

Jaxx TMS

is a Berlin based Music Curator, DJ, Broadcaster and member of the creative Collective SLIC Unit, is very well known for her wide musical range and her passion for bringing cultural and community work together. Due to her strong Caribbean, British & Spanish background, Jaxx came across genres like Lovers Rock, Jazz, Soul & Hip Hop pretty early. To honor the sound that shaped her, she started her own Mix Series „EXPRESSIONS“, which is now her Radio Show on Refuge Worldwide and becoming an Event starting in August 2023. Very significant for Jaxx TMS is her love for Dance Music, taking influences from the raw energy of it´s roots the 90s House Music as much as contemporary House & electronic uplifting genres with focus on UK and the US.
