Join us for the Zwischenraum Birthday 2023!

In June 2023, the MARKK in Motion project ends as part of the Ethnological Collections Initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation. For the Zwischenraum birthday, we will reflect on how the space should evolve. Together we celebrate the Zwischenraum and think about a variety of participatory spaces: you are cordially invited to open table discussions, DJ sets and culinary experiences!

Open-Table Discussion Giving Space – Taking Space a.o. with Tanja Aminata Bah (Altona-Museum), Dan Thy Nguyen and Nina Reiprich (fluctoplasma), Nina Lucia Groß and Tilman Walther (MK&G), Anfernee Kaminaga (MARKK in Motion Artist in Residence), Lutz Nitsche (Kulturstiftung des Bundes), Barbara Plankensteiner and Gabriel Schimmeroth, Akil Scafe-Smith (RESOLVE Collective), Woman* Life Freedom Collective Hamburg.

Accompanying an extensive culinary-artistic installation by Paula Erstmann.

Resurrecting the Sonic Archive

Vinyl DJs Mandel and mokeyanju will present a four-hour immersive experience of MARKK’s vinyl collection, which will include rhythms, chants, and melodies from West Africa, Eastern Europe, and East Africa, as well as Raï and other unheard folk music. Join us for an evening long ‘wake’ of a broad vinyl collection and an unforseen combination of selections.

Im Juni 2023 endet das Projekt MARKK in Motion, Teil der Initiative für ethnologische Sammlungen der Kulturstiftung des Bundes. Zum Zwischenraum-Geburtstag werden wir darüber nachdenken, wie sich der Raum weiterentwickeln soll. Gemeinsam feiern wir den Zwischenraum und denken über die Vielfältigkeit partizipativer Räume nach: Eine herzliche Einladung zu offenen Tischgesprächen, DJ-Sets und kulinarischen Ausflügen!

Die Vinyl-DJs Mandel und mokeyanju nehmen Euch mit auf eine vierstündige immersive Erfahrung der MARKK-Vinylsammlung, die Rhythmen, Gesänge und Melodien aus Westafrika, Osteuropa und Ostafrika sowie Raï und andere ungehörte Folk Musik enthält. Seid dabei für ein Eintauchen in eine unerwartete Auswahl der Vinylsammlung des MARKK.
