INSIDE OUT: Public Infrastructure and Private Space – Werkstatt mit Kelvin Haizel | HFBK
Modern history has gifted us with blessings and curses related to private property and public infrastructure. The interaction between these two aspects shapes the built environment and influences the functioning of our cities. Land, buildings, or other physical assets owned by individuals, businesses, etc., and physical and organizational structures necessary for the functioning of society as a whole are constantly in conflict. This workshop will explore this complex dynamic through four key themes to decipher this phenomenon. These include development and planning, social equity and access, shared resources, zoning and land use regulations. What new questions can we ask about these problem areas?

Kelvin Kwaku Haizel is a Ghanaian artist whose practices span conceptual photography, archival reactivation, and painting. His work has been shown in OderlyDisorderly (2017), Rencontres de Bamako, Biennale Africaine de la Photographie (2017), Stellenbosch Trienniale (2020), ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum (2021), Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago (2022), MARKK museum at the 8thHamburg Photography Triennial, and participated in Documenta Fifteen as an artist belonging to the blaxTARLINES KUMASI collective. He was resident artist at the Hyde Park Art Centre and research scholar at the Northwestern University on invitation of the Black Arts Consortium, 2023. Kelvin Haizel is a doctoral student at KNUST College of Art in Kumasi and a member of Exit Frame collective.

Kelvin Kwaku Haizel ist ein ghanaischer Künstler, dessen Praxis konzeptionelle Fotografie, Archivreaktivierung und Malerei umfasst. Seine Arbeiten wurden in OderlyDisorderly (2017), Rencontres de Bamako, Biennale Africaine de la Photographie (2017), Stellenbosch Trienniale (2020), ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum (2021), Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago (2022) und im MARKK Museum bei der 8. Hamburger Fototriennale gezeigt und er nahm an der Documenta Fifteen als Künstler des blaxTARLINES KUMASI Kollektivs teil.
